Intermediate Division

Age 10+

Intermediate Division classes are appropriate for students ages 10+. A placement class is required for enrollment in all Intermediate Division classes. Youth Ballet is recommended for students ages 10-14 with little or no prior ballet experience. Students ages 14 and up who are new to ballet are encouraged to begin their dance training in the Academy’s Adult Open Division.

Classes begin August 29, 2016 and conclude with the Spring Performances, June 2-4, 2017. Students in this division also have the opportunity to audition to perform with Charlotte Ballet in Nutcracker.

Students in the Intermediate Division are eligible to participate in the Student Ensemble performing companies. Members of the Student Ensembles are able to take their training outside the classroom through a variety of performance opportunities including Charlotte Ballet sponsored events and educational outreach presentations in the community.

2016/2017 Dress Code

In the proud tradition of classical ballet and in encouragement of each dancer’s positive self-image, we strive to have a clean, uniformed appearance for all our students. Please help us achieve this goal by purchasing leotards, tights and ballet shoes that match our dress code requirements and by fixing your child’s hair for class in the appropriate manner as listed.

Girl’s Hair

All Ballet 1, Ballet 2, Ballet 3, Ballet 4, Ballet 5 and Pre-Professional Division female students are required to wear a high bun on the crown of the head for class. No bangs, loose ends, ponytails or ornamentation are allowed. Please use a hair net to keep fly away ends in place.

Boy’s Hair

Hair should be neat and tidy. Hair longer than chin length must be pulled away from the face in either a ponytail or headband.
