Charlotte Ballet company dancer Chelsea Dumas takes on her newest role as Catherine Earnshaw of Wuthering Heights, boldly adapted into a ballet by Associate Artistic Director Sasha Janes.
“Wuthering Heights is a tragic and beautiful love story,” Chelsea describes. “It is going to take the audience on a roller coaster of emotions. Catherine’s emotions alone are constantly changing. Sasha’s choreography, costumes, sets, and music are so beautiful. Make sure to bring some tissues!“

The dancer behind the role
This is Chelsea’s fourth season as a Charlotte Ballet company dancer. She explains, “I started dancing at age three and, interestingly enough, I feel that dance chose me. In my family it was typical to go to college and get a job. I tried to go that route but opportunities would arise and I would always find myself dancing again. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to make a living doing what I love. It is where I feel most at home.”
