AN APPALACHIAN SUMMER FESTIVAL
Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts
Appalachian State University
Charlotte Ballet’s performance is filled to the brim with excitement! Featuring an all-star lineup of choreographers, this performance will leave you feeling uplifted, energized and in awe.
The performance includes two duets spanning form classical to contemporary:
- Enjoy the opulence of classical ballet with the wedding scene from Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux’s Sleeping Beauty.
- See the dancers excel in a pas de deux from George Balanchine’s Stars and Stripes, staged by Patricia McBride, Charlotte Ballet’s associate artistic director, former New York City Ballet star and a Kennedy Center Honoree.
The performance also includes two masterworks you don’t want to miss.
- Visionary choreographer Alonzo King’s ballet MAP, a metaphor for the different paths individuals must choose in life.
- Mark Godden’s Angels in the Architecture is an ode to the simplicity and grace of the Shaker lifestyle set to composer Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring.”
