Colby began his dance training in Fargo, North Dakota, at age 15. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona with a BFA in Dance Performance. Since graduating, Colby has danced professionally at Ballet Nouveau Colorado, which was included on Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch,” and Wonderbound for seven seasons. He has worked with choreographers such as Garrett Ammon, Bryan Arias, Peter Chu, Ma Cong, Duane Cyrus, Javier de Frutos, Mark Godden, Johan Inger, Sasha Janes, Kevin Jenkins, Alex Ketley, Maurya Kerr, Helen Pickett, Filipe Portugal, Chris Stuart, Myles Thatcher, Medhi Walerski, and Robyn Mineko Williams. Colby has been a principal dancer with the Central City Opera. He has also performed in Sweet and Lucky with Third Rail Projects and The Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and he performed in the Bessie award winning production, Then She Fell, in New York City. One of Colby’s favorite roles was playing Leonce in Christian Spuck’s, Leonce and Lena.
