About Charlotte Ballet

Led by internationally acclaimed President and Artistic Director Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, Charlotte Ballet is known for its strong dancers and versatile repertoire, ranging from classical ballet like the Nutcracker, to bold, contemporary works. The company of 25 professional dancers, who make Charlotte their home, annually present five performance series in Charlotte during a season spanning from October to April. In December 2014, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presented Associate Artistic Director Patricia McBride with a 2014 Kennedy Center Honor.

The artists of the Charlotte Ballet are known for their high energy, precision and speed, as well as their ability to perform a versatile repertoire ranging from full-length classical ballets to innovative contemporary works.


Sarah Hayes Harkins

Originally from Waynesville, NC, Sarah has been dancing with Charlotte Ballet for 8 seasons and also attended Charlotte Ballet Summer Intensive before joining the Company. Her favorite ballet is Jiri Kylian’s Forgotten Land, which the Company will bring back to the stage in the 2015/2016 Season opening performance, Fall Works.
