Corps de Ballet

The Corps de Ballet, Charlotte Ballet’s volunteer service and social organization, has supported the Company since its relocation to Charlotte in 1991. The Corps’ energetic members enjoy a wide range of hands-on service, educational and social events during the dance season, providing a unique behind-the-scenes volunteer experience. The warm partnership between the Corps and the Company fosters friendships, community support and appreciation of dance performance and production.

Member Activities

Company Interaction: The Corps provides meals for the dancers between matinee and evening performances and regularly interacts with dancers, artists and staff members in its activities.

Education Opportunities: The Corps offers members a dance enrichment program at selected meetings featuring informal talks with Charlotte Ballet’s dancers, artists and staff, guest choreographers and other invited guests.

Receptions: The Corps supports a Salute to Educators, honoring participants in Charlotte Ballet’s community outreach programs and Sneak Previews of upcoming performances.

Additional Volunteer Options: The Corps assists with other functions and special events as needed, including the Annual Gala, the Reach recital, selling Charlotte Ballet merchandise at performances and volunteering at open houses.

Fundraising: The Corps is helping to plan and execute Night at the Nutcracker, an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live music, and a live and silent auction. Event proceeds will benefit scholarship opportunities to aspiring Charlotte dancers within both Charlotte Ballet’s national award winning community outreach program, Reach, as well as the Charlotte Ballet Academy. The Corps promotes other fundraising projects of short duration from time to time.

Monthly Meetings: The Corps meets on the second Wednesday evening of each month (unless otherwise specified) during dance season at the Patricia McBride and Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux Center for Dance.
