Preparatory Division classes are appropriate for students ages 3-9 years old. Classes meet once per week throughout the school year. The 2024/2025 Academy Year begins on August 26, 2024, and concludes with a Showcase Performance on May 18, 2025. Parents should select a class based on the student’s age as of September 15, 2024. The Academy may change class placement based on an individual student’s maturity and physical strength.
CREATIVE MOVEMENT, AGES 3-4
In a fun and encouraging environment, students explore musicality, rhythm, creativity and movement through space. This class introduces age-appropriate stretching, basic strengthening, balance, motor skill development and coordination.
PRE-BALLET, AGES 5-6
This class introduces classical ballet vocabulary, emphasizing musicality and individual creative expression in an innovative, fun and easy-to-learn manner.
BEGINNING BALLET, AGES 6-9
This is a traditionally structured ballet class which includes French ballet terminology.
- Students who are new to ballet training will learn fundamental exercises and proper alignment, maintaining an emphasis on musicality, development of overall body strength, alignment and the enjoyment of moving.
- Students who have completed the Academy’s Pre-Ballet curriculum will continue to develop necessary foundational ballet skills to be prepared for Ballet I.
