Aysia Bates began her formal dance training at the Kansas City Ballet at the age of twelve where she began in the school. During this time, she attended several summer programs including Boston Ballet’s, Ballet West’s, and Alonzo King LINES summer intensives. Additionally, she has competed at the Youth America Grand Prix with the top twelve contemporary and classical in 2019, and in 2021 she placed 3rd in contemporary. This performance gained her an invitation back in 2022, where she placed 2nd in contemporary.
Aysia joined the Kansas City Ballet’s Trainee Division in 2021. During her time as a trainee, she has been able to perform Devon Carney’s Giselle, The Nutcracker, Cinderella, and Alexander Ekman’s Cacti in her 2021-2022 season. Since then, she also had the honor of performing in Val Caniparoli’s Northern premiere of Jekyll and Hyde alongside Devon Carney’s Peter Pan and George Balanchine’s Jewels in 2022 and 2023. Aysia is thrilled to start with Charlotte Ballet II for the 2024/2025 Season.
