Clay Houston, a Charlotte native, began competing in dance at four years old. He has trained at Charlotte Ballet Academy and spent a year dancing as a Trainee in the Pre-Professional Division. After graduating high school, he moved to New York to further pursue contemporary and modern dance forms. He has most recently participated in the inaugural cohort of GibneyPRO’s professional division under the direction of Alexandra Wells and Gilbert T Small II.
Clay has performed repertoire by Bryan Arias, Rena Butler and Maleek Washington, Laja Field, Elia Mrak, Aszure Barton, Amy Hall Garner, Alonzo King, Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux and Patricia McBride. He has also attended workshops at The School at Jacob’s Pillow, The Juilliard School, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, LINES Ballet and Houston Ballet. He is looking forward to his first season with Charlotte Ballet II!
