ROAN ZARAGOZA

CALIFORNIA 2ND SEASON

Roan, born and raised in Southern California, started his dance Journey with Anaheim Ballet School at 15 years old and graduated from V&T Classical Ballet Academy in 2022 at 18 years old. During this time he performed numerous lead roles in ballet’s such as. Fairy Doll, Don Quixote, Nutcracker, Talisman, Sleeping Beauty and Awakening of Flora. Roan was also invited to compete in the Youth American Grand Prix international finals in 2020 as an ensemble and in 2021 as a soloist.

Roan joined Ballet de Barcelona as a trainee in 2022 after graduating high school. Here he was given the opportunity to perform in Together, choreographed by Antonio Carmena and Marcus Salazar soloist position, Nutcracker demi soloist position and Coppélia corps de ballet. Roan is thrilled to start his professional career with Charlotte Ballet ll.

Describe a meaningful or memorable dance moment? My most memorable moment in the dance world was getting to be an extra in Mariinsky Theater’s production of La Bayadere. I have never seen so many talented artists in my life.
What do you do to destress or unwind? Watch a movie and listen to Mazzy Star.
What’s your pre-show ritual? I take a couple deep breaths and touch my lucky rock that I found on the floor when I was 6
Do you remember a moment when you realized you wanted to dance professionally? Yes, watching a dress rehearsal of Snow from the Nutcracker. It gave me such strong chills I knew I wanted to dance for the rest of my life.
Are there any dancers or artist that inspire you? Imre and Marne van Opstal have been very inspiring to me, I love every aspect of their work.
What are you doing when you’re not dancing? Swimming Thrifting or eating.
