Jenna Evans, MS, LAT, ATC
Jenna Lynn Evans is a performing arts medicine specialist and certified athletic trainer. For more than a decade, Jenna has created a practice of holistic care: considering the whole person, not just the injury. Her treatment philosophy includes aspects of performance optimization and strength training with manual therapies for injury management. Jenna completed her residency at The Harkness Center for Dance Injuries caring for professional and conservatory dancers; she was Head Athletic Trainer for Indiana University Ballet Theater; a member of the collaborative multidisciplinary healthcare team at UNC School of The Arts; and a touring backstage healthcare provider for various Broadway Shows.
Gretchen Platt-Kock, PT, DPT, BFA
Gretchen Platt-Koch earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan. Her extensive background in dance began early in childhood at the Academy of Movement and Music. There she performed a wide range of repertoire from historical modern choreography by Ruth St. Denis and Doris Humphrey to classical ballets including Seven Beauties and Coppelia. Gretchen was also able to tour with Tanzsommer Stars of Tomorrow in Austria with the studio’s resident company MOMENTA.
Kristin Goldstein, PT, DPT
Kristin Goldstein is a sports medicine physical therapist who holds her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Delaware. As a former cheerleader, she has devoted her physical therapy career of over 11 years to artistic athletes specializing in the rehabilitation of dancers as well as adolescent athletes. Prior to living in Charlotte, Kristin worked for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where she helped organize and develop their Dance Medicine program. She has received specialized training in dance rehabilitation attending the intensive Principles of Dance Medicine course at the NYU Harkness Center for Dance Injuries in New York City.
Dr. Jerry Barron, MD
Dr. Barron currently serves as the Medical Director and Orthopedic Surgeon for the Charlotte Ballet and has been there for over 30 years. He also serves as the Chief Medical Officer for the United States Performance Center and team physician for the Charlotte Checkers. A native of Texas, Dr. Barron graduated from Baylor University and The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopeadic Surgeons (AAOS) and American Medical Society of Sports Medicine. He serves on multiple boards in Charlotte and he and his wife, Midge fund raises for multiple organizations.
Dr. Pulak Patel, MD
Dr. Patel currently serves as the Ballet’s Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician. She attended Emory University for medical school and completed her Residency & Sports Medicine fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center. Dr. Patel is board certified in both primary care and sports medicine. She chose family medicine so she could treat the whole spectrum of ages. She enjoys the longitudinal aspect of creating relationships with her patients and getting to see them go through different phases in their lives.
