Over the past 50 years Charlotte Ballet has become one of our city’s most cherished arts organizations, and through it all we have demonstrated our resilience. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we have remained strong and financially secure through past challenges.
Today, however, things are a little different. For the first time in Charlotte Ballet’s history, our studios are dark and our Academy doors are closed. In a time of crisis, we need your support now more than ever. That is why some of Charlotte Ballet’s dearest friends created THE RESILIENCE FUND—a new $1 million campaign to help cover our losses during this time. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we are 83% to our goal!
This fund was established to…
- Replace lost revenues from canceled or postponed performances
- Replace revenues from postponed Academy/Engagement programs
- Support dancers’ compensation contracts
- Extend medical and other benefits to furloughed staff and dancers
- Offer compensation (2 weeks) to all furloughed staff
- Keep essential staff employed for as long as possible
Moved by our community’s support, Charlotte Ballet artists and staff have found innovative ways to show their gratitude. Our costume shop made more than 700 masks for health care workers and patients, Academy staff created digital content for students, and we are offering both free and paid online classes, and our artistic team produced three online performances for all to experience. With continued support of THE RESILIENCE FUND, we can sustain this creativity and prepare for unseen challenges that may lie ahead as we navigate this new chapter. Any gift, no matter the size, will impact both our artists and organization during this time. Make a contribution below or to make a gift by check, stock or your donor-advised fund, please contact the development office at (704) 414-2783.
