DECEMBER 6-22, 2024 BELK THEATER
NUTCRACKER
In the heart of Uptown Charlotte at the Belk Theater, the Snow King and Queen bring about frosty festivity this holiday season. Be transported into a winter wonderland, making a delightful stop in the Land of Sweets with Nutcracker and Clara on their mystical adventure. Of course, Rat King returns to antagonize Clara, but in the face of mischief, one can only dream that magic will save the day. With choreography by Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux paired with the melodic beauty of Tchaikovsky’s music performed live by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, this generational tradition just keeps getting better and better.
MARCH 6-8, 2025 KNIGHT THEATER
A REALM OF EXISTENCE
Have you ever tried to navigate a space that is continuously changing? This is the conceptual foundation for choreographer Johan Inger. In his piece Walking Mad, he takes inspiration from a changing environment, perhaps symbolizing an interesting balancing act of life. Alejandro Cerrudo will premier his first ballet for Charlotte and feature two additional favorites PACOPEPEPLUTO and Cloudless that explore the realm of self-expression, enveloped in the illusion of nudity and adding an extra layer of artistic authenticity.
MAY 2-11, 2025 KNIGHT THEATER
CARMEN
Andrea Schermoly reimagines the classic tale of Carmen, set against a 1973 Las Vegas showgirl-themed production, accompanied by a live arrangement from the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. This electrifying reinterpretation explores themes of seduction, passion and love, leading to a tragic and heartbreaking fate. With two men vying for her affection, this heroine embarks on a tumultuous affair filled with emotion and unforgiving betrayal.
This version of Carmen may display themes and scenes intended for mature audiences.
