At only 19, Charlotte Ballet’s SARAH LAPOINTE has packed many accolades into her short, yet remarkable dance career. One such accomplishment came in January when Sarah was included on Dance Magazine’s prestigious “25 to Watch” list – a distinction given to rising stars of the dance community. Another achievement is set for this March, when Sarah stars as The Lilac Fairy in CHARLOTTE BALLET’S SLEEPING BEAUTY. Get to know Sarah and then come see her this March 10-19 in Sleeping Beauty at Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts.
Why Sarah Loves Sleeping Beauty
“Since the beginning of this season, I was most looking forward to performing in Sleeping Beauty because I love full length classical ballets and I’ve never performed this one before! I am most excited about performing the role of The Lilac Fairy because of the lengthy movements and beautiful music of which each variation consists. The role of The Lilac Fairy is so iconicbecause she is the good fairy that protects Aurora from a curse by the evil Carabosse!
Families will enjoy experiencing the story of the well-known princess Aurora come to life as she conquers the curse given to her by the evil Carabosse. In general, I love Act III, the wedding, because of all the other fairy tale characters that are included. The guests that attend the wedding are Puss in Boots, Bluebird, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and others. It’s fun to see all the fairy tales come together to celebrate the royal wedding of Aurora and Prince Florimond.”
