We asked our dancers,

What does “Pretty Powerful” mean to you?

I always try to improve on myself and be the very best I can be. It’s important to me to always push harder and do better than I did the day before.
Dance is an art form that is not just beautiful to look at, but it can also have the power to move you.
“Pretty Powerful” means any individual that simultaneously acquires strength and a beautiful spirit.
There is so much beauty in strength, and in order for ballet dancers to achieve beauty you have to have strength. There cannot be one with out the other.
The desire to create art through movement while overcoming my own physical and mental barriers is what powers me as a dancer.
Dancers can be asked to execute steps that are beautiful but can also deliver movement that is more raw and real. In that, I believe there is so much power, to show vulnerability but also strength.
