Alejandro is a nationally and internationally renowned artist and most recently resident choreographer at Seattle’s Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB). Charlotte Ballet’s Board of Trustees selected Alejandro based on his passion for creating a diverse and inclusive dance culture, which aligns with the Ballet’s own mission. His goal is to “enable and empower an inclusive, collaborative and innovative culture.”
“I am honored to have been chosen to lead the artistic staff and vision at Charlotte Ballet, a culture stamp on the city of Charlotte and the region as well as a leader and innovator in dance globally,” Alejandro said. “I embrace this opportunity that comes at an important time – as the arts, needed now more than ever, reemerge from the pandemic, exuding strength and resilience.”
Alejandro’s Artistic Vision
“I am overjoyed to join Charlotte Ballet and together continue to push the boundaries of ballet and contemporary dance.
I am eager to build upon the company’s identity as one of quality, creativity, and range, while embracing a pioneering perspective to enrich the art form. Together, as an organization, we will strive to position Charlotte Ballet as a creative cultural leader that stands for diversity, equity and inclusion within its own walls and beyond.
It is an absolute honor and privilege to lead Charlotte Ballet into the next chapter.”
