On a starry Christmas Eve, young Clara’s world transforms as she embarks on an enchanting adventure beyond imagination. Guided by the Nutcracker Prince, she journeys through swirling winter landscapes where snowflakes dance in harmony and into the dazzling Land of Sweets, where confections waltz and the Sugar Plum Fairy reigns in splendor.
With Tchaikovsky’s soaring score performed live by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux’s breathtaking choreography, this beloved holiday tradition captures the wonder of childhood, and the beauty of a dream brought to life. Ohad Naharin’s Kamuyot pulses with immersive energy—playful yet primal—dissolving the distance between dancer and audience, weaving an unspoken dialogue of movement and connection. Nicole Vaughan-Diaz’s world premiere unfolds as a fearless exploration of the unseen, a testament to the raw emotion and depth that define her artistry. The North Carolina-based choreographer’s works move like a current—bold, unrelenting, and deeply human. Like light refracted through stained glass, Alejandro Cerrudo’s One Thousand Pieces shimmers between clarity and mystery, reforming in a mesmerizing dance of unity. To the music of Philip Glass performed live by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and inspired by the visions of Marc Chagall’s America Windows, this dreamscape unfolds—fluid and ever-shifting, a reflection on art and love. Radiant water hues become a fleeting reflection of something greater, shaping expressions of transformation and the endless mosaic of human connection.
